“I appreciate the fact that we work as a team in our company. Not everything is technically rationalised here. It is important to me that people take care of our 220 dairy cows. In addition to our family and our permanent team, we also welcome employees with disabilities to support us. A well-functioning community is essential. That is why I also believe in the solidarity that characterises a cooperative and helps to keep farms viable.
I have basically supported all the steps in the development of the dairy. Some of these decisions have proved difficult to implement in day-to-day business over the years. Internal friction has often thwarted the market opportunities of our large dairy. This was also the case last year, when we all had to do without a considerable amount of milk money compared to our competitors. But DMK came clean and openly explained the reasons for the poor price. As a dairy farmer, I could relate to this and, despite strong doubts, I refrained from resigning in the end. If possible, I give a second chance, that's my motto. I am convinced that further high milk losses in the group could have drastic consequences for the entire milk market.
Most of our milk is processed at the Strückhausen plant. As you know, considerable investments were made there a few years ago, and I believe that further losses of raw materials in our grassland region would undermine the basis for this location.
I still want to believe that DMK, with its size, can provide stability even in times of crisis. I think the support and information provided by the magazine Milchwelt, among others, is successful.”
